DVD Ripping Software for Newbies

Converting or ripping DVD videos to different formats can sometime be frustrating and time consuming. Given the technicalities involve behind the scenes, such as, bitrates, frame rates, video codecs, synch and etc. it is easy for a newbie to get lost.

The good news however is that, unlike in the old days wherein we need to manually input and experiment with the settings mentioned above inorder to get at least a medium to decent rip or burn quality, DVD ripping softwares today are already equiped with presets that can automatically rip copy protected DVDs and perform a perfect quality DVD rip with fast speeds and great efficiency and producing duplicate or custom DVDs even of greater quality than the original.

For some who are not familiar with the typical ripping session or ripping project, here is how the process usually takes place:

  1. User opens DVD ripping software
  2. DVD ripping software asks for the DVD to be ripped
  3. User inserts the source dvd into the DVD burner drive
  4. DVD ripping software detects the source DVD and asks for any specifications or customizations from the user, (example: copy selected episodes only, convert to a different video format and etc.)
  5. Ripping takes place and asks for the blank DVD when done
  6. User inserts blank DVD and now the software burns the newly ripped video to the balnk DVD
  7. DVD burner writes the data into the the blank DVD and a newly function DVD rip is created after the burn.
