| How to install a New DVD Burner |

Given the constant price decline of computer parts like the dvd burners and the overwhelming of supply of cheap brand new computers, it is very easy to just buy a brand new computer to replace an old one. However upgrading your old computer is far more economical compared to buying a new one. Not to mention that it is still quite a meaningful thing to upgrade an old pc and breathe new life to it. Turn off your computer and unplug it from the power outlet. Using your screw driver remove the screws holding your computer casing in place and remove it by sliding it towards the back. You should see the internal parts of your computer seen below. ![]() Step 2 Before touching anything inside you computer, make sure that you ground yourself first by touching the metal casing of your computer to remove any static electricity from your body that can harm sensitive electronic parts. Now locate your old cd rom or dvd drive and detach the cables attached at the back of it. Don't worry there are just two cables for this. The first cable is for the power while the second is for the data. Take note of these two cables because you will need to re-attach it to your new dvd burner. Here is the back of the dvd drive with the cables still in place. ![]() Here is the back of the dvd drive with cables now detached. ![]() Step 3 Now unscrew your old cdrom or dvd drive and to remove it give it a little push. Once remove you can now mount your new dvd drive and screw it in place the same way the old was positioned before. Make sure that it's secured into place. ![]() Step 4 Now, re-attach the two cables namely the power cable and the data cable at the back end of your new dvd burner. These were the two cables you previously detached from the old cd rom or dvd drive. Place back your computer casing and screw it in place. That's it!
