TiVo recorded programs are MPG files encrypted in a .TiVo wrapper which stores supplementary information, such as the title, program description, etc. To view this type of files, it is necessary to install the TiVo Desktop and use Windows Media Player or any player that supports Windows’ DirectShow filters. To burn.tivo files into DVD, you will either use a utility software that will extract the contents of .TiVo files as an unencrypted mpg files prior to burning them to DVD, or use a software that is designed to burn .tivo files directly to a DVD, such as a ConvertXtoDVD software. In this guide I will show you how to easily convert and burn TiVo recorded programs to a DVD using ConvertXtoDVD. Before you can do that, though, transfer the recorded programs or .tivo files from TiVo to your PC, first. To do that, you may need to download and install the TiVo Desktop Software. This software will provide you with a list of available shows to transfer to your PC when your TiVo is connected to your home network.
