Subtitles are textual versions of a dialog in a film or a movie that are typically found at the bottom of the screen. These.can be the actual representations of a dialog or a translation of a dialog to a foreign language to help viewers with hearing problems follow the dialog in a movie. There are plenty of subtitle formats the most common of which is the Subrip which is supported by most title creation program and software video player. Its caption files have the extension .SRT. You can create DVD movies with subtitles using a DVD authoring software such as ConvertXtoDVD. With this tool, you can add as many subtitles as you can. For system requirements and installation guide click ConvertXtoDVD Installation Guide. Getting Started In this guide I will show you ways on how to add the subtitle file or .srt file using ConvertXtoDVD software. For a complete guide on how to burn movies using ConvertXtoDVD click here. Step 1: Open convertXtoDVD program. The default settings are set for most of what needs to be configured during the installation.
Step 2: Add the movie you want to convert and burn. Click on the green button on the upper right corner or click File in the top menu and select Add video file.
Step 3: Click on the “+” sign next to your movie to expand. You will then see “Subtitle” in the sub-section list indicated with a number of subtitle streams associated with the video file added. Normally, you will see a (0 Stream) right next to Subtitle meaning there’s no subtitle file associated yet.
Step 4: Adding the subtitle (.srt) file that you have prepared or downloaded can be done in two ways. By right clicking on “Subtitle (0 stream)” and selecting “Add subtitle” option, and accessing the folder where you saved your .srt file .
Another way is to automatically add the subtitle stream when you add the video file. You need to do this step first prior to doing step 1. Here’s how: When the subtitle (.srt) file is ready you will need to save it in the same folder where you saved the movie that you want to burn, or save both the movie file and the subtitle file in the same folder. Next, assign the same filename to both files without changing their extension (i.e. movie1.avi and movie1.srt). When done with this, you can now proceed to Step 1. As you reach the third step you will notice that there is 1 stream for the subtitle. This means there’s one subtitle file associated with the movie file you added. You may now proceed with the burning process or customise other parameter settings.
