Convert and Burn Home Videos to DVD

Converting home made videos from a camcoder format to a DVD format can either be real easy or real complex, depending on how much detail you want and the type of media format you are working with. Take note that video recorders use different kinds of file formats, and the complexity of your home made DVD project always hinges on this.

Camcorder file formats differ mostly according to manufacturer. For instance, JVC, Panasonic and Canon camcorders use the MOD recording format, which can be easily viewed on a DVD player without recompression, or a computer supporting MPEG-2 video. AVCHD is a popular recording format usually found in most modern camcorders, but most especially in Sony and Panasonic camcorders, also on Canon, Hitachi and JVC camcorders. There are other camcorder types too that utilize different storage types such as miniDVD tapes and memory cards.

Most of the time you need to convert home made video before you can copy video to DVD or burn the video to DVD.  A good DVD burning software and a conversion tool is ConvertXtoDVD that lets you convert home video and burn DVD as well. It supports most file formats employed by digital camcorders and it can convert your AVCHD files to DVD directory and structure for DVD burning. ConvertXtoDVD is also a DVD authoring software which lets you perform custom DVD burning by adding menus, subtitles, and chapters.
