How to prevent DVD Burn errors

The best way to avoid burn errors is to know what factors can cause them and prevent them from happening. There are plenty of possible reasons why DVD burning can fail. Often, wrong parameter settings, incompatible media or range of other preventable (and completely avoidable) factors are the cause of dvd burning errors.

So the best thing one should do especially if you are a beginner in DVD burning is to gather and read a lot of information prior to doing a DVD burning task.  Otherwise, you may end up in frustration and wasting money, effort, and time. If you want a higher success rate when burning DVDs, you might want to avoid these pitfalls:

Using an unreliable media
Don’t just go for cheap media because they have been mass produced, and in the unfortunate events you can end up with a bad disc or a bad batch.  Choosing the right media is a key factor that leads to a successful burning.

Dirty DVD Writer
A dusty DVD writer lens can also cause burning problems. To remedy this, get a lens-cleaning disc and clean the burner first before using it, to increase your chances of a successful burn.

High speed burning
It is very tempting to set the burning speed at its maximum speed to get things done quickly but this can lead to an unreliable burn. In theory, the slower the burning speed the higher the success rate will be. Set your speed as low as possible between 4x or 2x to help you eliminate burning errors.

Overworked CPU
Common practice while waiting for the burning process to complete is to do other stuff like checking emails, browsing websites, playing games etc. Multi-tasking your PC is one of the leading causes of getting random errors while burning. Step away from the computer and try to do some other things like watching TV and let your computer focus on that single task to prevent errors before it can complete the task.
