DVD Backup - getting started |
|
|
If you’d like to backup your DVD games with some generally used burning software then you’re reading the right article. This “How to” can also be useful for backing up any original DVDs you may have. More information on DVD burning for beginners can be found here.
First, you’ll need the following:
· a DVD burner (check out our online shop for the latest bargains) · DVD media · A modification, soft mod or a hard mod (modchip) · Burning software (free downloads available from here) · PS2 · About 6-10GB’s free HD space
Basically, booktyping or bisetting is making your DVD player think that it is reading a DVD-ROM even when it’s actually dealing with a DVD+R or a DVD+R DL.
Keep the following pointers in mind for smooth DVD burning:
· You must make sure that the DVD media you are using is of good quality. Quality media also uses quality metal dyes which will give your laser a more comfortable job compared to the low quality dyes that cheap media makes use of. You may want to save, but what’s spending a couple more bucks if it will last you years more!
· Be sure that your firmware is updated, this ensures media compatibility and it can also make use of newer features that may enhance write strategies. Media compatibility is important in the enhancement and application of the newest features out there.
· Other programs should be closed when burning (for example the internet or scanners). All of the computer’s memory usage will be able to focus on the process of burning instead of trying to do several things at once. If your computer is busy multi-tasking it may not be able to burn your DVD smoothly. Remember, the quality of your backup is at stake.
· Direct memory access mode should be enabled.
· You should defrag your hard drive. This will enhance your computer’s speed and the efficiency of the DVD burning process. Any kind of improvement in your computer’s speed will be a key tool in your DVD burning.
