AVI files to DVD using Avi2DVD |
|
Freeware tools are used by Avi2DVD in order to perform conversions like AVI to DVD, AVI to SVCD, AVI to VCD or DVD to DVD, DVD to SVCD, or DVD to VCD. Some have had trouble using it with CCE SP 2.50 but it has been used with newer releases of CCE. QuEnc, FreeEnc, NuEnc, and HCEnc are the four encoders which come with Avi2DVD. You may choose to utilize CCE but it should be pre-installed. HCEnc is a good encoder to start with. In the end, it will come to your choice or decision regarding which encoder to use but many stand by the affectivity and results of HCEnc. A movie that is in two files or more may be renamed in such a way that Avi2DVD is capable of loading and encoding both, without having to merge them together initially. So let’s get on with the process, first you need to know what requirements you will be utilizing.
Requirements
Avi2DVD
DVD Decrypter – For burning an ISO image.
In order to encode to a DVD, ideally you should have at least 15GB of free space. Once Avi2DVD is through you’ll be left with VIDEO_TS folder which contains your DVD files, as well as an ISO image. Temporary files will also take space. Note that Avi2DVD will permit you to add subs (.srt or .txt).
Avi2DVD The settings of Avi2DVD are seen in 4 steps, Input, Output, Encoders and Subtitles. With a click on the flags over these tabs, the language of the program can be changed.
Shutdown when done is particularly useful if you want to do some encoding while getting some shut-eye. Close Avi2DVD when done has a clear purpose. Hide External Applications can minimize programs but it isn’t advisable to be using other programs while accomplishing such a task.
The Job Queue list will be utilized after you’ve added a job in order to begin encoding. For a particular job, Modify Job allows you to edit settings. Let’s begin by opening your AVI file/s.
Input Settings Begin by clicking the Load avi/ogm/mkv button. But if your movie is on more than a single file, you may open all files simultaneously. By naming the initial part of the movie 'video CD1.avi' and the second part 'Video CD2.avi', Avi2DVD can load both. This may also be useful for subtitles files. A single file does not require any renaming, you simply load it.
Details concerning the framerate (fps), Duration and Resolution will come up under File information. A list of audio streams will come into sight under Choose AudioStream. If the Aspect Ratio is incorrect or has not even been chosen by Avi2DVD, you must change it. If you are dealing with interlaced AVI file/s, tick the Interlaced Source checkbox. On to the output settings, click on the Step 2 Output tab.
Output Settings Select DVD or SVCD. For the option Choose Disk Size you should go with DVD (DVD-5 4.7 GB) but if you have a dual layer burner and DVDR DL media you may opt for DVD (DVD-9 8.5 GB). After this choose the particular language of the audio track under the Choose Audio Language option.
Make sure that the Aspect Ratio setting is the same as the source, if not, this may result in bad quality. With the original sound as a basis, select the Audio Bitrate.
AC3 audio may be considered by Avi2DVD for DVD player compatibility. About 192kb/s or 224kb/s may be considered if VBR MP3 audio was your source. As a boundary, remember that you shouldn’t have to exceed 384kb/s.
Select Make ISO and then set the Name to your choice. You may also opt for Pal Ntsc Conversion. But this type of conversion may result in jumpy playback but if you must select one of the options.
Finally, select an Output Folder. Click on the small folder icon. It doesn’t matter what folder you choose because Avi2DVD will make a folder named Avi2dvd_temp inside of it. On to encoder settings, click the Step 3 Encoders tab.
Encoder Settings You may utilize five different encoders-- QuEnc, FreeEnc, NuEnc, HCEnc (which are free encoders) and CCE (which isn’t). If you do have it, click Locate CCE and point Avi2DVD to the executable file found in the installed directory. HCEnc is also a recommended encoder. Not only is it fast but provides good quality results. You will find fast, normal, good and best under Profile. HCEnc on best will perform 2-pass encoding which may be a number of hours but worth the wait. Don’t leave a screensaver on during the process and eliminate scheduled tasks so as not to make the process any slower. On to subtitles options, click on the Step 4 Subtitles tab.
Subtitles Settings You may add three sets of subtitles. In order to add subtitles files (srt or txt) just click on the Subtitle 1 button in order to locate the file. Here if there are two files then proceed with the same process as when you added the video.
You may actually add three different subtitles streams. Just make sure that you specify a language, a font, font size and character set for a selected stream. In order to change the options for different streams click on the particular options tab relating to that stream.
Add Job Now click on the Add Job button which aids in batch encoding by ordering the particular jobs as you have chosen in the Queue. By clicking the Go !!! button after the job is found in the Job Queue list, the process may start.
Process Your source files, along with the type of encoder in use, and the speed of your computer will determine the actual amount of time of the Avi2DVD process. Once the process is over and done with, there will be loads of files, but what is important is an ISO file that was made. Normally this file is named DVD_Image.iso. Launch DVD Decrypter and proceed by burning this file.
